The Chosen (part 5)

The Mormon issue?

It has been argued that the Chosen is being filmed by Mormons and that Mormons produce the Chosen, which should be of great concern to Christians.  The producer of the series is Dallas Jenkins.  Dallas Jenkins is not a Mormon, but Dallas Jenkins does have Mormon friends, and the Chosen is filmed on Mormon property.  Angel Studios is a Mormon business. Dallas Jenkins has stated and believes that Mormons are his brothers and sisters.  He believes that Mormons worship the same Jesus as Christians.  He later back pedaled on that statement and said "Of course he didn't mean that all Mormons are Christian." Dallas Jenkins has also stated that he is responsible for all the content on the Chosen series. I have a newsflash.  No Mormon is a Christian.  We do not believe in the same Jesus period.  Please do your research about Mormon beliefs.

On a podcast entitled - "LDS living - Dallas Jenkins Behind the Scenes of the Chosen", Dallas Jenkins states at the 2:48 minute mark that Christians and Mormons love the same Jesus.  He states again that they both believe in Jesus of Nazareth -- the same Jesus -- and he doesn't understand why some say Mormons believe in a different Jesus.

If Dallas Jenkins cannot see the difference, then he is in darkness and does not know the Word of God.  This should concern us.

Also, it appears from the few clips I have been able to watch of the series that they do everything possible to show the humanity of Jesus as if to say He's just like us…..an ordinary man (who became a god?)  A man that needs to rehearse the Sermon on the Mount.  This is no surprise since the Mormons do not believe in the Trinity and do not believe Jesus is Almighty God in the flesh.

If you feel like the Chosen makes Jesus more real to you then I am concerned you are not reading your Bible, which is our only sure source to know Him.

I recently watched a documentary on Tubi called "The Mormons. This documentary is the best I have seen.  The people who put this together are former Mormons.  The Mormons believe Jesus was just a man who achieved godhood.  The Mormons do not believe that Jesus is God in the flesh.  This is clearly visible from their own website.  They take their inspiration from the book of Mormon….a book written by one man.  They have to add to the Bible with another book.  The Mormons believe in a system, like other false religion, that promote a works doctrine.  They work their way to heaven with good deeds, and if they are good enough they can achieve godhood too.  For any Christian to think that it is possible to be a Mormon and also a Christian is a tragic mistake.  One former Mormon even stated on this documentary that the Mormons see what Eve did in the garden of Eden (when she ate of the apple) to be a good thing since it led to them being able to become gods.

In one scene of the Chosen a man tells Jesus, "If you do not renounce your words we will have no choice but to follow the law of Moses."  Jesus then says "I am the Law of Moses".  This is not anywhere in the Bible.  Jesus does say I am the bread of life, I am the light of the world, I am the door of the sheep, I am the good shepherd, I am the resurrection and the life, I am the way, the truth, and the life, I am the true vine and my father is the vine dresser.  Jesus makes several "I Am" statements, and this is important because God called himself "I Am" in the Old Testament.  However, never does Jesus say I am the law of Moses, but He does say He is the fulfilment of the law.  In the book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 15, verse 9, Jesus says "I am the law."  Therefore, this scene is more associated with the book of Mormon than the Bible.  This may seem small, but it is nonetheless significant.

One author I often read made the following statement: "Don't give in and watch the Chosen. Your imagination will forever be shaped by the visceral potency of a cinematic interpretation of Bible narratives, and it will therefore be much more difficult to allow the words of scripture to shape your imagination.  God gave us Words."

The devil is providing you an option from Biblical truth.  You should Flee!
